When you join gaiia, you'll quickly get acquainted with the colleagues you'll be interacting on a daily basis. But for you to get a 360° view of what's happening at gaiia you'll also get to meet people outside your team, so feel free to reach out to anyone else in the team you'd like to meet.
As a fully remote business, we truly believe that taking care of our body, and brain is fiercely important. We, therefore, encourage everybody to meet once in a while to get to know each other outside of work.
All team members work from home. Therefore, going outside from time to time is important ! Gatherings are a great occasion to meet the team and bond with people.
We aim to create events once a month to ensure that our team can meet in person from time to time. Activities are organized first to share a good moment with as many team members as possible, at a fair price. To do so, the events should always be really open (low skill level required) and diverse (sport, art, culture, beer...)
An example of an activity can be as simple as a gathering in a park. gaiia can offer beers, drinks and snacks.
Like most stuff at gaiia, we trust our team. You can judge if the event is "valuable enough" to make it happen with its cost. Therefore, events must always be at a reasonable cost. Always remember to act in gaiia's best interest!
What's a "reasonable cost"? It is an arbitrary indication to let you reflect on the question, ”would you pay for it?”. If the answer is yes, it's probably ok. The funds are available to encourage people to meet and do cool stuff. If it fits the purpose, then go for it. 😉
If you feel like the cost might not be reasonable, discuss it with someone you trust.

You can share the event on #Slack in the appropriate channel. If it’s a company-wide gathering, share it in #general, and if it’s in a specific region or with a specific team, share it in the appropriate Slack channel.
In addition to the spontaneous after-work beers, Sports Gatherings, and team-activities, we have an offsite event once a year.
