Remote is not a challenge to overcome. It's a clear business advantage.
It happens that we work from another country for a few days, be it to stay longer at a vacation spot or to be closer to our family for a while.
Work-from-anywhere is simple, you book yourself a flight, you bring your computer, and you make sure to send us photos of where you are around the world.
Depending on one’s destination and length of stay, there are a few things that need to be looked at for the safety of yourself and gaiia (taxation, insurance coverage, employee benefits, cybersecurity, privacy law, etc). Nothing too major, but we would not be taking care of our people if we did not mention it. 🖤
Any team member wishing to work from outside of Canada is more than welcome to do it. Please have a little chat with your manager before leaving (and if necessary, with @Audrey Desgagnés ), so we can plan everything and make sure you have a wonderful time!
We have the right tools to work remotely and asynchronously. We make sure we communicate about what we are working on and when we are available, to make it easy for our colleagues to know when they can expect an answer from us or what we are currently working on. We expect you to find a proper working environment where you can be productive with a good internet connection if you need to jump on a video call with your colleagues.
Here again, updating our calendars to reflect when you are available and from where help us ensure smooth collaboration.
That being said, we expect everyone to actively contribute to the team spirit and company culture. We ask for everyone’s presence at the recurring company meetings (except if you are on vacation, then have fun, and send us some pictures 😉)
